1940's NEWYORK IN COLOUR

How great are these 1940's shots of New York from the Charles Cushman Collection  ....
so different from the black and whites we are used to from that era, I think they have a really modern feel ....

Isn't it interesting to see what is the same and what is different? The houses/ architecture is EXACTLY the same, but the fashions, the trucks and the way that people stand - boy is that different!

Great images! A snapshot back in time.

So fine photos!! Exhilarating and depressing at the same time (never get that time back)!

So nice to see all that old typography in situ in colour.

They really are extraordinary. And they really do look modern. Except, of course, for the groups of kids, playing out in the streets. Alone. Kellie xx

beautiful. I love looking at vintage city photos and the life lived there at that moment.
